Building Control Agency Remains Silence in Illegal Building

Illegal buildings on Road Boundary Line (GSJ) or Building Boundary line (GSB) are still rampant in East Jakarta. Those buildings are still stand up without any control from Building Control Department (P2B).

They should be bold on controlling illegal building, do not only seal them because it merely delays only

As proven, luxurious boarding house and a shophouse behind Duren Sawit Sub-District Office are built without permit, while the construction has reached 75 percent. Also, on Jalan Lapangan Tembak Cibubur, a new building is sealed after the construction has just finished.

According to Bylaw No. 7/2010 and Governor Regulation No. 38/ 2012 article 14 paragraph 1 clearly set out the licensing and construction. Yet, these rules are just rules without real implementation by East Jakarta Building Control Sub-Department.

IMB Online System still Meets Obstacles

However, both Jakarta Building Control Department and East Jakarta Building Control Sub-Department did not say anything when they were asked about this matter.

Related to that, an urban observer from Trisakti University, Yayat Supriatna deeply regretted the indecision of East Jakarta Building Control Sub-Department in responding the illegal building construction.

“They should be bold on controlling illegal building, do not only seal them because it merely delays only,” he said on Monday (5/5).

Supriatna thought that the East Jakarta Building Control Sub-Department should be open and transparent on license matter. Moreover, many people still assume that the permit process takes a long time. As a result, people seem to bury the hatchet with the officer.

“Related to open permit, the time should be clear,” he explained.

Supriatna also hoped the East Jakarta Building Control Sub-Department provides a consultation room for public since the city has not provided many public rooms to consult about the licensing and constructing process.

“Do not let people get caught up in ignorance, because ignorance can be used as an opportunity for personal gain," he added.

Supriyatna also stated that the Building Control Sub-Department not only works on supervising and controlling only, but also works on giving clear dissemination and guidance for people about technical design so that they do not violate the applied rules.
